As Product Manager I am primarily responsible for translating the vision of our users and management team into design requirements which shape our Web Pay product. I work closely with the development team on each of the features we build to ensure that what we deliver is consistent with the requested functionality, as well as useful to the end users.
I started here in 2001 as a customer service representative. During my interview I expressed a desire to learn more about technical support. I was told right then that if I took the initiative I would be given a shot to advance.A lot of companies say that, but Paylocity certainly delivered on this promise!
I was fortunate enough to have incredibly helpful and patient co-workers who were willing to teach me as much I was willing to learn. I was soon working for the payroll conversion department then learned what I needed to know to advance to the technical team. I was enjoying learning SQL and report writing; eventually I was promoted to Manager of Technical Services which I really enjoyed, but when the Product Management position opened in software development I couldn't pass it up.
What I am doing now is really the perfect culmination of my payroll experience. I get to be involved in building a product that has the potential to change the market. It's incredibly gratifying. I was never given the same encouragement and opportunity for growth with any of my former employers.
Life Here
There is never a dull moment at Paylocity. I am always busy and always challenged. Despite the breakneck pace, I never dread coming in to work. I think the relaxed atmosphere goes a long way towards reducing work stress. I also get to work with amazing people every day which is such a blessing.
