Position Overview 


We are seeking a Senior Product Manager to work on Authentication and Authorization (AA) product experiences. As a Senior Product Manager for AA, you must understand authentication and authorization concepts. Authentication involves verifying the identity of users or systems attempting to access resources, while authorization determines access to a resource based on verified identity and assigned permissions. Your expertise in these areas will enable you to make informed decisions regarding the experience design and implementation of secure products that meet the needs of our customers while maintaining the integrity of our security protocols.


As a Senior Product Manager for AA, you will drive innovation and product development involving new features that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of our AA offerings. This includes managing all aspects of the product life cycle, from strategic planning to customer adoption, by collaborating with stakeholders to prioritize feature selection and oversee product development. In addition, you will demonstrate responsible ownership, relentless curiosity, a strong desire for continuous improvement, and the ability to think strategically about our products while empowering and leading others to do the same.

Your ability to work independently and as a team player will be vital in ensuring the success of these initiatives. Additionally, you will stay up to date with new security technologies and standards and be motivated to continuously experiment and learn to improve our authentication and authorization products. This role reports directly to the Director of Product Management.


Key Responsibilities:

  • You will own AA's product/platform roadmap across the Paylocity product suite. Your duties will include overseeing the associated product feature set, making tradeoff decisions, and prioritizing features based on their significance to the customers and security standards by working with partner teams.
  • Define product roadmap, capabilities/features, and experience to meet customer needs and Paylocity security standards.
  • Collaborate with partner teams to understand and integrate the requirements into the roadmaps/sprints/releases.
  • Prepare and present strategies, spotlights, and business cases of critical capabilities.
  • Conduct due diligence on your proposed product strategies, assessing their viability and ensuring they align with market and customer needs. Additionally, you will establish a cadence for obtaining regular customer feedback to incorporate into the product.
  • Engage various audience members in discussing strategy, product/platform health, winning and losing business hypotheses, and insights.
  • Should be results-oriented and have the ability to collaborate with stakeholders to achieve goals effectively.

Required Experience: 

  • Must have a minimum of 7 years of experience in Product Management, with a proven track record of successfully building and launching authentication and authorization products or identity life cycle management and governance or CIAM products.
  • Must have prior experience working on cloud-based SaaS or PaaS software and a track record of delivery at high velocity.
  • Must have applied knowledge of identity protocols such as SAML and OIDC and identity federation, SCIM, and password-less identity standards like FIDO2 and WebAuthN.
  • Applied technical knowledge of industry-leading identity standards is preferred.
  • Must have experience working with external partners and vendors to make build vs. buy decisions.
  • Must have at least 5 years of experience working with agile methodology to drive product development and delivery, including developing user stories/epics.
  • MBA or master's in computer science, or information security is preferred.
  • Must have the proficiency to communicate orally and in writing.

This role can be performed from any office in the US. The pay range for this position is $128,000- $237,600/yr; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This position is eligible for an annual bonus and restricted stock unit grant based on individual performance in addition to a full range of benefits outlined here.
