Position Overview:

The Manager Operations Risk Mitigation role provides direct leadership to a team managing live and scheduled incidents, including remediation, resource management, education, and reporting. As the primary leader of the incident team, this position will establish structure, guidance, and policies to enable efficient incident remediation and ensure swift responses to all incidents. The role will also collaborate cross-functionally to ensure appropriate stakeholder involvement and updates based on the needs of each incident

  • Lead and manage the incident response team, ensuring the appropriate use of tools, processes, and resources to enable quick and effective resolution.
  • Guide and mentor the Incident Response team through triage, impact assessment, action planning, and stakeholder communication during critical incidents.
  • Develop and refine tools, resources, and processes to ensure efficient incident response and continuous team improvement.
  • Drive ongoing process improvements to enhance response speed, operational efficiency, and client satisfaction in managing incidents.
  • Plan, resource, and execute incident response strategies, including devising and implementing remediation plans and assessing their effectiveness to minimize future risks.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Product, to assess, troubleshoot, and resolve incidents, ensuring root causes are identified and steps are taken to prevent recurrence.
  • Oversee the execution of incident action plans, ensuring timely resolution and intervening as necessary to maintain progress toward resolution.
  • Lead the development of data-driven insights and reporting on incident trends, performance metrics, and areas for improvement, sharing findings with relevant stakeholders across the organization.
  • Utilize data trends and forecasting to proactively manage incident response resources, ensuring appropriate staffing levels to address incidents effectively.
  • Develop and deliver clear, concise presentations to stakeholders at all levels, including executives, to ensure alignment and drive informed decision-making in incident management.
  • Foster strong relationships with key cross-functional partners to facilitate smooth collaboration during incident response and remediation efforts.

Education and Experience 

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 5+ years in an operational management role in a high-volume environment.
  • Experience using reporting and metrics as a key part of the job (Monthly/Quarterly KPIs)
  • At least 3 years of experience managing highly critical situations, escalated clients, and executing plans under tight timelines.
  • Strong working knowledge of the Paylocity product preferred
  • Previous experience leading incident response teams in an HCM and/or SaaS environment preferred
  • Knowledge of ITIL Incident Management framework and concepts such as Major Incident Management (MIM), Root Cause Analysis or After-Action Reviews preferred.
  • Demonstrated capacity to lead in high pressure situations, make decisions in ambiguous situations, and drive cross group consensus in short periods.
  • Ability to make independent decisions in critical situations, often with minimal time to prepare, involving various levels of the organization, including Executives.
  • Excellent communication (written & verbal) and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels, including Executives.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to collect and interpret data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, leading a team through high-risk interactions. 
  • Strong leadership qualities, including the ability to motivate, mentor, and develop team members.
  • Proven experience in operations, incident management, or a related role

This role can be performed from any office in the US. The pay range for this position is $80,000 - $110,000/yr; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This position is eligible for an annual bonus and restricted stock unit grant based on individual performance in addition to a full range of benefits outlined here. This information is provided per the relevant state and local pay transparency laws for the location in which this position will be performed. Base pay information is based on market location.
