From Dreams to Reality

In 2019, I proudly walked across the stage with a master’s degree in industrial organizational psychology ready to take on the challenges of the business world. My dream? To become a Human Resources Consultant and use my skills to make a real impact. But as I navigated the job market, one opportunity shined above all others: the Implementation Consultant role at Paylocity. It was a perfect fit, blending client interaction with the chance to revolutionize HR processes through innovative software.

From my first interview, it was clear that Paylocity was where I wanted to grow my career. Their emphasis on teamwork and collaboration wasn’t just talk, it was woven into the culture, creating an environment where learning and development were prioritized. And what ultimately drew me in was the promise of personal and professional growth.

When I received the call offering me the position, I was overjoyed. Paylocity believed in me and, little did I know, this was just the beginning of a transformative journey. Since then, I've learned more than I ever imagined—not just about the industry but about myself and the profound impact one can make when truly supported by their company.

My Paylocity Beginnings

Starting as an Implementation Consultant I, I dove into the technical world of payroll, mastering the intricacies of system implementation and honing my project management skills. Balancing timelines with client expectations, I embraced Paylocity’s “customer first” culture, learning to create solutions that exceeded expectations. This role laid the foundation for my career, transforming me into a well-rounded professional capable of tackling any challenge.

In time, I was promoted to Implementation Consultant II, where I worked with larger, more complex clients and participated in a game-changing green belt initiative that drastically reduced rework in the implementation process. The experience was incredibly rewarding, and I felt more connected to the company’s vision than ever before.

My aspiration to be a Human Resources Consultant stayed with me, and soon, I transitioned into the role, helping clients bring Paylocity’s full suite of HR products to life within their organizations. Before long, I was promoted to HRC III, supporting enterprise clients, and making a lasting impact in the industry. This role was a pivotal moment in my career, blending my passion for HR with the opportunity to serve large-scale organizations.

Driven by a love for leadership, I took the leap and applied for a Team Lead position within the HRC department. Once again, Paylocity believed in me. I was thrilled to step into a role where I could coach employees and drive impactful change. Leading a process improvement project that boosted client engagement has been one of my proudest achievements. While this is where I am now, my journey is far from over. There’s so much more to accomplish, and I can’t wait for what’s next!

My Customized Experience

A unique part of my journey with Paylocity has been the freedom of remote work, a true blessing as the wife of a U.S. Sailor. Frequent relocations make establishing a stable career challenging, but Paylocity’s support has allowed me to thrive professionally no matter where life takes us. This stability offers more than just convenience, it provides peace of mind in an otherwise unpredictable lifestyle and reflects the company’s genuine care for its people.

Beyond the flexibility, the relationships I’ve built at Paylocity have been incredibly meaningful. From celebrating my wedding to sharing in life’s biggest milestones, the sense of connection and support here makes it feel like so much more than a workplace, it truly feels like home.

Supporting our Communities

Paylocity’s support goes beyond the professional realm, creating a close-knit community that extends to personal growth. One of my favorite experiences has been participating in the 5k Chase Corporate Challenge in downtown Chicago where employees run together, each striving for personal fitness goals. Inspired by my colleagues, I took on a new challenge of running a half marathon. To make it meaningful, I raised funds for St. Jude’s, a cause close to my heart, and the overwhelming support from my coworkers was humbling. It reminded me that at Paylocity, we don’t just celebrate our own achievements, we rally together to make a positive impact.

Community involvement is at the heart of Paylocity’s culture, too. From filling backpacks with school supplies for kids, to assembling care packages for deployed service members, these moments exemplify Paylocity’s dedication to its community and the world beyond. It’s this spirit of service and connection that makes our workplace feel like family.
