Position Overview:

The Tax Department is relied upon by all facets of the organization including sales, new client implementation, client support and finance. The Team Lead position provides ongoing mentoring to Tax Specialists I, II, and III, while ensuring team deadlines are on track and maintained. They will work strategically with other departments to refine processes and procedures, while creating and communicating long term goals with leadership. Monitor and manage high level client escalations, as well as, agency mass issues.  


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Oversee day-to-day operations and prioritize workflow for team members effectively 
  • Review Filings to assure quality standards are met and that risks of failure to file are mitigated 
  • Analyze tax filing processes and procedures to ensure the most efficient and effective method is utilized 
  • Resolve escalated issues and be able to facilitate solutions to improve overall client experience 
  • Review error trends and instruct team members on corrective actions 
  • Maintain employee level metrics and Analyze data to reduce filing errors 
  • Mentoring and ongoing trainings with team members including process improvements 
  • Strategize and communicate long term objectives and goals to team members and leadership 
  • Excellent knowledge of all payroll and tax software applications 
  • High level understanding of internal tax department processes 
  • Build and maintain working relationships with state and local agencies 
  • Keep up to date on latest developments as they affect tax regulations and policies 

Education and Experience: 

  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience in Payroll, tax, or a related field 
  • Prior leadership experience preferred 
  • Experienced with Enterprise Employment Tax Software Tools 
  • Experience as Payroll Practitioner for large company a plus 
  • Extensive knowledge of federal and state payroll tax laws 
  • Experience with research and execution of complex payroll tax filings  
  • Certified Payroll Professional preferred or significant progress toward certification desired 
  • Payroll service bureau experience desired 
  • Experience with multiple government agencies and ability to understand complex regulatory language

This role can be performed from any office in the US. The pay range for this position is $59,600 - $110,600  /yr; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This position is eligible for an annual bonus and restricted stock unit grant based on individual performance in addition to a full range of benefits outlined here. This information is provided per the relevant state and local pay transparency laws for the location in which this position will be performed. Base pay information is based on market location.
