About the Team:

The Time & Labor NextGen engineering team is currently working on some of the most critical products at Paylocity. Our mission is to empower managers with modernized tools and insights to improve workplace happiness and efficiency. We are part of the Engineering Products functional group within our larger Product & Technology organization.


NextGen’s technical footprint covers a breadth of areas some examples are:

· An API-first strategy to deliver integrations and experiences between domains

· Backend asynchronous processing engine to provide scalable experiences for clients

· Domain Events consumed by RabbitMQ/SNS/SQS

· Main languages and frameworks are C#/.NET and React 


What you will do:

Engineering is the function that applies principles and techniques of engineering, mathematics, and computer/data science to the design, development, and testing of applications. The Product & Technology engineering family consists of software development, testing, database, DevOps, virtualization & network.

· Enthusiastic about developing the best software available and providing the ultimate customer experience

· An advocate for continuous improvement of our software development process

· Interested in staying current by applying new technologies

· Able to work in a collaborative environment with a willingness to share your ideas

· Able to work independently on modules and complete tasks with high quality and contribute to high velocity, but unafraid to seek out suggestions from other team members

· Recommend and implement improvements to team core processes 

· Complete stories or subtasks where the approach is less defined, however the outcome is clearly defined

· Work with senior team members to pressure test their design or approach.

· Propose appropriate scope adjustments centered on delivering the right client outcome while considering technical debt impacts. 

· Understand a large code base to contribute to it and understand existing designs and technology choices to make appropriate adjustments to existing designs

· Ensure code exhibits good separation of concerns

· Achieve both high throughput and quality 

· Work within the scope of a team with specific guidance from manager and collaborate with team members

What you will bring:

· Bachelor's degree in a computer science, engineering, technology related field or equivalent experience

· Must have 2-3 years’ hands-on experience with full-stack web development, with experience in Client-Side Programming (HTML, JavaScript, CSS, AJAX) and SQL. React JS preferred

· Must be proficient in object-oriented design and development and unit-testing, Web Services, and web pages using ASP.NET and/or ASP.NET MVC with C#

· Should be familiar with Systems Architecture and developer tools

· Experience with unit testing and integration test automation

· Must be adaptable to change and have a willingness to learn 

· Must have a strong sense of curiosity 

· Must commit to their role and take responsibility for their tasks 

· Must be able to work effectively in an agile and team environment

· Must be effective and creative in problem solving

This role can be performed from any office in the US. The pay range for this position is $84,100 - $156,100/yr; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This position is eligible for an annual restricted stock unit grant based on individual performance in addition to a full range of benefits outlined here.  This information is provided per the relevant state and local pay transparency laws for the location in which this position will be performed.
