IRS Releases New Information on 2019 Form W-4

September 20, 2018

After much deliberation, the planned major revisions to the 2019 Federal Form W-4 will be postponed. A draft of the proposed 2019 form was released in June.

In June, the IRS released a draft of the proposed 2019 Federal Form W-4. This was in response to major changes in Tax Reform passed in December 2017. Today, the IRS has announced that after much deliberation the planned major revisions to the 2019 Federal Form W-4 will be postponed.

What to Expect

The IRS will delay major changes to Form W-4 until 2020. We can expect any upcoming changes for the 2019 form to be routine and more closely aligned to prior years.

At this time, no action is required of employers or their staff. Paylocity will continue to monitor any further announcements and will share new information related to Form W-4 as the IRS releases it. For additional information, please see the IRS announcement here.
